  1. Oh those Japanese maples….one of the beautiful things I lost moving here….there were places to see them, and now I can’t think of any, not nearby. But I’ll probably find one somewhere, and meanwhile, I can console myself with this beauty, serving as a perfect foil for the tattered gold friend.

    • Thanks, Lynn. The maple is my favorite tree in the yard. About 5 years ago heavy snowfall caused the tree to split in two. Not wanting to give up on it, I bolted it together using stainless steel nuts and bolts. It’s still thriving. The yellow leaf is from the birch tree in the back. High winds blew it over the house and onto the maple. My lucky day!
