Thanks, E. You’re right, #2 is different from the others but I wanted to include it since this tree is destined to come down soon. It’s been an inspiration since I’ve lived here.
It breaks my heart to take it down. If there is a bright side I’d say that it was a high-maintenance tree and I’ll have extra time every day for other things.
These make me smile. Looking up at the chaos, you weren’t deterred, instead, you were inspired. 🙂 River birch? I like the main photo very much, also the perspective in #026-2.
A long, long time ago I took my first trip to San Francisco. I was shooting Kodachrome then. My slide show consisted of 30 shots of the Palace of Fine Arts and 110 shots of tree bark. Be careful what you wish for,
I like these, Ken. Autumn in a higher key…
Thanks, Mic. I agree. I wanted a higher key in these photos. Of my 3 bracketed exposures, I used the 1 stop over for these.
Nice.
No. 3 appeals for the leaf details. No. 1 for the artsy feel of it.
No. 2 . . . well, one of them has to be last, mostly because it branches away from the others, barking its own — and different — tune.

I hate taking down trees, but sometimes there’s no helping it.

Thanks, Lynn. Yes, it’s one of 2 River Birch in the yard. When the sun is in the east it puts on a beautiful show for us. I’ll be sad to see it go.
River birches are such nice trees. Maybe you can do bark studies during the winter months…
Oh, I have LOTS of bark studies!!!
OK…let’s see them! One of these days…there’s no such thing as a late bark study. 😉

The leaves look like glowing sequins!
Thanks, Howard. I think the backlighting has something to do with that.
