The hippopotamus has the ability to stay underwater for as long as 5 minutes. I read it on a Snapple bottle cap, so it must be true.

A real page turner.
So many books to read, so little time. Thanks, Tom.
I enjoy how the text comes through other books. Very cool image!
Thanks, Howard. I’m surprised myself by the sharpness of this. I used my phone to shoot these exposures and it did a pretty nice job.
Yes it did. Wouldn’t have guessed it was a cell shot!
I like it! I can’t figure out what else to say. 🙂
That’s good enough for me. Thanks, Lynn.
🙂
The observation about hippos staying underwater for up to five minutes reminded me of whales, which zoology, if not Snapple, says are the hippos’ closest living relatives:

If you are ever looking for another job doing research for bottle cap trivia, let me know, Steve.
Interesting . . . double exposures or a collage? Regardless, visually captivating.
Thanks, E. It’s a triple exposure but each individual is very nice.
Nice unique creation. Wasn’t sure what I was looking at until reading the comments above about a triple exposure.
There is a wonderful display of books at our local library and I took a few shots while I was waiting. We are lucky to have such a nice library so close to us.
I like the antiqued look of this, Ken; it’s an image to stick with for a few minutes. Great job seaming multiple exposures into something meaningful. Would be interesting to print this life-sized.
Thanks, John. I’ve been meaning to get some prints from the phone shots just to get a measure of the quality. This could be one.
My Galaxy is crazy sharp, something I have to tone down a bit if making prints. From what I’ve seen from the latest iPhones: same deal
2 years ago I had a 9×16-inch print made from an S20 phone and I was surprised how sharp it was with very little noise. We’ll see what the newer phone can do.
