Thanks, ehpem. Here’s a case where the color version was terrible. The dark areas were originally a muddy brown color, not very pleasing. It didn’t take much effort to eliminate the color but I think WordPress knocked down the contrast a bit.
I find that WP can alter images a bit, and sometimes it is quite noticeable. But unpredictable. Even so, this one came out just fine for those of us not privy to the original.

I like how it switches from being a white pattern against black, to a black pattern against white while I am looking at it. Just like a reflection.
