Thankd, John. I was on the Bay access bridge on the sidewalk with the 70-300mm VR attached. The original has the entire swan but I decided to on this crop to bring out the texture of the feathers. I only noticed the detail after zooming in in LR4.
This is a great exposure – all those details. I like the framing too – the bits of water give it enough context that it is immediately recognisable, and it is such nice water.
I guess before commenting on how close-up you were on 2clicksaway I should have seen this!
Nice sharp image and well balanced exposure. Great textures.

Beautiful Picture Ken, thanks for sharing
Thanks, Chantal.
Now this is art, really nice.
Thanks, Don. It’s great to hear that.
Nice!
Thanks, Charles.
Superbly sharp work, Ken
Thanks, Andy.
Terrific! The tonal range alone is breathtaking!
Thanks, Linda. After I clicked the shutter on this one I thought it would make it into the “bloopers” folder. I was surprised myself.

Thanks, ehpem. At first I thought I would apply a blur to the water but I think it adds a little interest to the composition.
Some of those little ripples are very compatible with the fine edges of the feathers, they work well together.
Thanks, ehpem. I almost cropped them out, too.
You say it’s a swan — but it could be an angel… Beautiful capture of the tonal range!
Thanks, Andrew.
